What is a RESCO?

  • A Renewable Energy Service Company (RESCO) is a specialised provider that designs, installs, owns, operates, and maintains renewable energy systems on behalf of clients. 
  •  Under a RESCO model, clients enter into long-term agreements to purchase the energy generated by the system, typically at a predetermined rate.
  • while the RESCO provider retains ownership of the equipment and assumes responsibility for its operation and maintenance.

  • Under this model the end customer signs an agreement to purchase energy from Arka Grids for a specified duration at a negotiated cost like any ESCOM.
  • Arka Grids executes the project and manages operational expenses for maintaining the plant at peak performance. The asset is owned by Arka Grids.
  • The customer is only liable to pay for the lower of the two a. energy units consumed b. Minimum Committed units.

  • In a few special categories in some states, RESCO model developers enjoy up to 70% subsidy for RESCO projects on government building.
  • Not only this, but in some states, the government is also offering its premises for the development of plants.
